Nicht die Vergangenheit steht im Mittelpunkt, sondern ihre kulturell überformte Gegenwart. (aus: Klappentext) On 8 May 1945, American and Sowjet troops met in the small market town of Erlauf in Lower Austria. A historical event: the end of World War Two. In 1995, Jenny Holzer and the Russian sculptor Oleg Komov visibly inscribed this event in the appearance of the town with two monuments. In 2000 and 2002, the project "Erlauf remembers ..." proposed a debate on the event, as well as on the monuments. Not the past is in the center, but its culturally reshaped present. (see: blurb)
