Hamad and the Gastromancer

Ventriloquism originates from the Latin for to speak from the stomach, ie. venter (belly) and loqui (speak), also known as gastromancy. The noises produced by the stomach were thought to be the voices of the dead, which would be interpreted by the ventriloquists, thus enabling them to foretell the future. In this performance, Amal Khalaf and Monira Al Qadiri will become ventriloquists of their own pre-recorded voices, stomach noises, and personal histories, culminating in a Disney-esque narrative about the past, present and future of their scorching homeland: the Gulf....
