Following the movement of two dancers in chains, observing a horn frog devouring a mouse, or looking at distorted reflections – what connects the filmic work of Hanna Schimek, Renate Schweiger and others is their curiosity for finding the quality of tremor in serenity. Whether taking a close look at a spider’s dance, filming vivid underwater scenery, or eating a penguin, humor, texture, and persistence permeate their different filmmaking approaches. This program shows a selection of independent small gauge films made by the female filmmakers that have been preserved or restored at the Austrian Film Museum in Vienna....

The program will be followed by a discussion with the artist Hanna Schimek, and archivists Nadja Šicarov and Stefanie Zingl of the Austrian Film Museum.

Ausgewählte Schmalfilme von Frauen : Nadja Šicarov präsentiert restaurierte Filme von Tatjana Ivancic, Stefanie Zingl stellt Amateurfilme aus der Sammlung des Österreichischen Filmmuseums vor und Hanna Schimek zeigt Kurzfilme, die zwischen 1984 und 1993 gemeinsam mit Gustav Deutsch entstanden sind.
