TONSPUR goes Praha

02.12.2009 - 06.12.2009

DOX Centre for Contemporary Art, Praha / Ceská Republika (venue)

The TONSPUR project, the origins of which date back to 2003, arose from the idea of ??the possibilities of sounding public spaces - halls, halls, passages, which include composed or improvised music. The vision of the sound space as a new component of the architecture and genius loci of the place, which arose from the collaboration of Georg Weckerth and Peter Szely, was realized
in the Musems Quartier in the center of Vienna and is an integral part of this place in its six years of existence. The civic association earfly reflection presents a selection
of works by artists who created musical composition and sound installations for TONSPUR during its existence.... The Prague performance of the TONSPUR project is a representative cross-section of works inspired by the idea of ??sounding spaces, music that was created directly for the original eight-channel reproduction at the instigation of their creators.

A specific element of the TONSPUR project and at the same time its sound basis is the eight-channel reproduction, thanks to which the space where eight speakers are installed becomes a place for stopping, meditating and captivating passing visitors. Each of the thirty authors listed in Prague is dealing with the atypical task of fulfilling this task in a completely original way. The students thus have a unique opportunity to listen
to selected compositions at the DOX Center for Contemporary Art during each day the exhibition lasts . Following the Berlin presentation at Schlossplatz in Berlin, this is one of the next attempts
to launch the TONSPUR project outside Vienna, for which it was originally designed.

The "early reflections" association was founded in 2003 by composers Sylva Smejkalová and Michal Trnka as a civic association whose intention is to actively support and perform contemporary classical music. During its existence, "early reflections" has developed into an art platform on which contemporary music also successfully confronts other art genres, such as pantomime, fine and multimedia art. Among the most important works of the association are projects with foreign participation, such as concerts in collaboration with Slovenian conductor Marko Hribernik or German conductor Tilo Schmalenberg, as well as the melodrama Pierot Lunaire with the Austrian soprano Ulrike Sych and others. At present, she focuses on multimedia projects with international participation; in the previous year, the Austrian composer Andrea Sodomka was a guest of early reflections. who composed "Difference between me and my shadow" for the early reflections ensemble. The permanent presentation of the musical legacy of the XX classics is not left out either. century and the work of living Czech authors.

The TONSPUR goes Prague project was created in cooperation with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Prague and the DOX Center for Contemporary Art.
