QUATTRO STAZIONI

The exhibition will take place in the house at Praterstrasse 42 during June
2002. Austrian artists open the "Büro für Weltausstellung" in the former
"Büro der Weltausstellung" 1873 (Office for the World's Fair 1873). About
the same time in imperial Vienna, the idea was born to move Italians into
the quarter. A house on Praterstraáe, the "Dogenhof", a replica of the Dogen
Palace in Venice, is witness to this idea and appears to show an effort to
make the Italians moving into the quarter "feel at home". This rather
strange idea escalated to the opening, in 1895, of "Venice in Vienna", an
exact replica of Venice in the Prater....a forerunner of Disneyworld. This
provided the impulse for the VICE VERSA invitation to Italian artists to
consider this and use it as starting point for the development of on-site
work, researching and filtering the available history and information.
QUATTRO STAZIONI will present multimedial positions from Sara
Serighelli/Antonio Rovaldi (Performance), Lidia Fiabane (Research), Fabrizio
De Pasquale/Daniele Poletti (Photo/History), Casaluce-Geiger
(Video/Instaation).
VIER RICHTUNGEN, the exhibition in the "Buro für Weltausstellung"
concentrates on the meaning of "World" and investigates the possibilities of
it's exhibition through construction/de-construction (Roswitha Ennemoser),
outside-inside of space and "mirrored" image (Kurt Spurey),
trans-action/trans-fer/trans-port (Beverly Piersol) and with global myths
and their impenetrability (Gertrude Moser-Wagner).
Finissage with sound installation from Josef Reiter on June 28, 2002 at 8:00

QUATTRO STAZIONI

Die Ausstellung findet im Juni 2002 im Haus Praterstrasse 42 statt.
Österreichische KünstlerInnen eröffnen das "Büro für Weltausstellung" im
ehemaligen Büro der Weltausstellung 1873. Ungefähr zu jener Zeit war im
kaiserlichen Wien die Idee aufgekommen, das Viertel mit Italienern zu
besiedeln. Das Haus "Dogenhof", als Nachbildung des Dogenpalasts in der
Praterstrasse Wien zeugt davon, dass man den italienischen SiedlerInnen
entgegenkommen wollte, indem man Häuser ihrer Heimat nachbildete. Diese
seltsame Idee gipfelte schlieálich im 1895 eröffneten "Venedig in Wien",
einer getreuen Nachbildung von Venedig im Prater, die als Vorläufer der
Disneyworld gelten kann. In diesem Zusammenhang sind von VICE VERSA
italienische KünstlerInnen zugeladen worden, den Gedanken weiterzudenken und
Arbeiten am Ort zu entwickeln, Recherchen durchzuführen, Geschichten
herauszufiltern. QUATTRO STAZIONI, die Ausstellung in
Hof/Pferdestall/Vitrine, zeigt multimediale Ansichten und Standpunkte, von
Sara Serighelli/Antonio Rovaldi (Performance), Lidia Fiabane (Recherche),
Fabrizio De Pasquale/'Daniele Poletti (Foto/Geschichte), Casaluce-Geiger
(Video/Installation).
VIER RICHTUNGEN, die Ausstellung im Büro für Weltausstellung, beschäftigt
sich mit Welt und ihrer möglichen Ausstellung: mit Aufbau und Abbau
(Roswitha Ennemoser), mit Auáen und Innen von Raum und Abbild (Kurt Spurey),
mit Handlungsformen und Beteiligung (Beverly Piersol) und mit globalen
Mythen und Undurchdringlichkeiten (Gertrude Moser-Wagner).
Finissage und Klanginstallation von Josef Reiter am 28.6.2002, 20 Uhr. VICE
VERSA Projektdokumente und Abschlussfest.
